Hello lovely human,
Welcome to Episode 1 of my newsletter.... eeeekkkk!!
This time last year I was just two months into sobriety. I had made a quiet but life changing decision that I wanted more from my life and I was frantically trying to force my way out of burnout while still juggling NHS work, motherhood and everything in between.
Fast forward twelve months and here I am writing my very first newsletter. I am half way through my Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy diploma (Hypno - CBT) with the UKCCH, trained as a breathwork facilitator, trauma informed life coach and putting on wellness sessions in my local community. Watching people come together to pause, breathe and reconnect has been incredibly grounding and affirming, and has reminded me that meaningful change does not need to be something dramatic. It often begins gently and grows from there.
The journey to this point has required openness, courage and curiosity. It has involved financial investment in training, growth and support, learning how to hold boundaries and showing up for daily practice after daily practice. None of it has been overnight and all of it has been deeply human.
Writing a newsletter is something I genuinely never thought I would do. I hated English at school and never felt confident expressing myself through words. What I have come to understand though is the power that language holds. Words are creative and expressive. They can shift how you feel, change your perspective and influence how you move through life.
So here we are. This is my first one and I plan to share a monthly newsletter throughout 2026 as a place to reflect, share and gently connect.
I am not a new year new me person at all. However, after the Christmas period with children at home and life feeling wonderfully full but also busy, I can absolutely feel the propulsion that comes with the start of a new year. The routines return, the pace shifts and there is a natural sense of movement again.
In ancient Chinese history this year is the Year of the Horse and I love the energy that comes with that. The horse represents freedom, strength, momentum and expansion and those of you that know me well will know I was (and kinda still am) an equestrian gal. I can genuinely feel that powerful energy in me already. With that in mind I am setting the intention for 2026 to be an expansive year for me energetically, professionally and through experiences and education. A year of growth rather than rush.
A simple learning on intention setting.
Setting an intention is different to setting a goal. A goal focuses on the outcome. An intention focuses on how you want to be as you move through your life.
January is a very popular time for manifesting and in many ways it mirrors New Year’s resolutions. But the truth is, we are always manifesting. Through cause and effect, through where our attention goes, and through how we observe and respond to the world around us. Whether we are conscious of it or not, what we focus on shapes what we experience.
That is why intentions matter. They help bring a little awareness and choice into that process.
From a science point of view, when you set an intention you are giving your brain a filter. Your reticular activating system (RAS) helps you notice opportunities, behaviours and choices that align with what you have consciously decided matters to you.
It is a bit like the yellow car theory. The moment someone mentions a yellow car, you suddenly start seeing them everywhere. They were always there, but your brain had no reason to notice them before. Setting an intention works in a very similar way. You are not creating something out of thin air, you are simply training your attention to notice what was already available to you.
You are not forcing change. You are gently guiding your attention and your nervous system in a particular direction.
This year I have been inspired by the idea of choosing one or two (or three 😄) words for the year. Not a long list. Just a couple of anchors you can come back to when things feel busy or overwhelming.
My words for this year are Patience and Acceptance alongside Faith.
Patience is something I have to work hard on when I want things done yesterday and feel ten steps ahead of where I actually am. Acceptance reminds me that I am juggling a lot and that where I am right now is enough. Faith is about believing the universe will support me, trusting that what is meant for me will not miss me and remembering that I am destined for great things rooted in love, connection and transcendence.
Having one or two (or 3) words works because it is simple. It is easy to remember. And when things feel noisy you can gently ask yourself what patience looks like here or where you might lean into faith a little more.

Journal prompts for you.
Take a quiet moment with one or two of these if it feels supportive.
What word or words do I want to guide me this year and why.
When life feels rushed or overwhelming, how can I return to this word in a practical way.
What would it feel like in my body to truly live this word day to day.
